We, the weirdos
We, left out friends
We, the bullied
We, the closeted LGTB+ youth
We, the kids with messed up families
We, the kids who cut
We, the suicidals
We, the kids with mental disorders
We, the socially awkwards
We, the kids with anxieties
We, the kids who don’t know who to reach out to
We, the kids who need help but don’t know how to ask or where to find it
We, the kids who seek attention but don’t know how to get it
We come together
We help and support each other
We turn to the internet when everyone else has turned their backs on us
We meet people like us who get us
We try to feel closer to our idols who help us even though they don’t know us
They think we’re not living hidden behind our screens
We know we are just trying to survive
They think we’re engaging in useless long distance relationships when we could have plenty at home
We know we have finally found where we belong
They may not understand
But we have found our entitled bite of happiness
They may try to make us more like them
But we can never be
They may try to take it from us
But we will never give up what saves us
“We are here no matter what, even when it seems like the world has given up on you.” -Aïa Sakr
